At the parliament session on March 15, 2008, he was again elected head of state.
In November 2012, he was replaced as Secretary General of the CCP by Xi Jinping. The office of the President of the People's Republic of China submitted on March 14, 2013, along with the approval of his successor, Xi Jinping.
