b. December 30, 1884 in Tokyo, d. December 23, 1948 there) - General of the Imperial Japanese Army and politician. Tōjō was a devoted nationalist and strong supporter of Japanese expansion in Asia and the Pacific. Because of his determination, patriotism and strong leadership, he was nicknamed Kamisori Tōjō. In 1941-1944, the Prime Minister of Japan, in fact, exercised dictatorial power. Recognized as a war criminal, condemned to death and executed.
